Hedi Slimane chose Le Palace—Paris’s answer to Studio 54—as the stage and the playground for his latest menswear collection

Le Palace, Paris’s answer to Studio 54, was home to last Friday’s CELINE Winter 2023 menswear show. It was a sentimental choice on the part of creative director Hedi Slimane; he’d frequent the nightclub from the age of 16, rubbing shoulders with the characters who would come to define his taste as a couturier: Yves Saint Laurent, Grace Jones, Prince, Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, Karl Lagerfeld, and the like. The presentation was marked by a sense of celebration, featuring a performance by The Libertines and a slew of free-spirited designs—studded leather, dark glasses, shaggy coats, and shag haircuts. It was at the afterparty, however, in the venue’s basement, where this energy could take full-effect.

DeSe Escobar is no stranger to a good night out; as the founder of Club Glam, she effectively curates the best of them. The DJ, artist, and all-around personality is known for defining New York’s 2010s party scene—and as she happened to attend CELINE’s night at Le Palace, it’s only fitting that she be the one to provide a glimpse behind the curtain. For Document, Escobar shares her evening’s finest moments, from hair and makeup, to sitting front-row, to cutting loose through the morning.
