In the Sky Lounge atop New York City’s Virgin Hotel, Editor-in-Chief Nick Vogelson welcomed an array of friends and contributors for a night of revelry

Friday night, in the Sky Lounge atop the newly-opened Virgin Hotel, Document Journal celebrated the start of New York Fashion Week. The party was hosted in collaboration with Loewe Perfumes: swathed in its candles’ warm glow, and scented with cypress, cucumber, ivy, oregano, and other natural essences. The lighting design was conceived by Nitemind, and the musical stylings, by DJs The Carry Nation and Fatherhood. Guests congregated by the bar—flush with cocktails by SUPERGAY Vodka, YOLA Mezcal, McBride Sisters Wines, and Return Brewing—and properly crowded the dance floor, swaying under the Manhattan skyline well into the morning.

Editor-in-Chief Nick Vogelson welcomed an array of friends and contributors: BJ Novak, Paloma Elsesser, Ama Elsesser, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Eric Nam, Young Emperors, Richie Shazam, Mickalene Thomas, Ana Kirova, Tyler Mitchell, Joshua Woods, Parker Kit Hill, Mykki Blanco, Thomas Persson, Alva Claire, Aweng Chuol, David Vivirido, DeSe Escobar, Deon Hinton, Ian Jeffrey, Silvia Prada, Pati Hertling, Timo Weiland, JiaJia Fei, Charles Renfro, Pierce Abernathy, Tanner Reese, Michelle Duncan, Laurent Claquin, Nita Aviance, Will Automatic, Michael Magnan, Physical Therapy, Matthew Placek, Dan Thawley, Lynette Nylander, Abi Benitez, Tom Jackson, Alika Mock, Zane Phillips, Michael Seater, Tess McMillan, Jay Critch, and Jonah Almost.

The evening honored new connections as well as belated reunions, as guests filed in from around the world to kick off the weekend’s festivities. It was a night of anticipation and revelry, ahead of inspiration to come.
