For Spring/Summer 2023, Donatella Versace centers the fearlessness of Gen Z

Donatella Versace’s latest collection showcases a new generation for Versace Men’s, with help from the sons of Mark Vanderloo, Helena Christensen, Andre van Noord, and Carla Bruni. As the house’s press release puts it, “Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 confidently walks the line between unexpected juxtapositions—fun and formal, bravado and sensitivity, Baroque and pop.”

These contrasts were inspired by Gen Z’s freedom and fearlessness, creating looks that Mrs. Versace believes make people feel and think differently. There’s neon, metallic tones, and stripes amidst Greco-Roman prints, conveying youth, optimism, and energy. Oversized silhouettes are paired with form-fitting tops, while breathable loungewear pants are styled with sturdy outerwear. As a continued exploration of Gen Z’s values, the house incorporated eco-sustainable latex and faux python print leather.

Models walked down a runway staged in a Milanese palazzo’s garden, carrying items from Versace’s home collection. Crystal-embellished reusable cups hang over their shoulders, and delicate porcelain urns are tucked under their arms. Some even don miniature plates as belt clip-ons. Everything comes together to fully reflect the brand’s vision: “a Versace Man who has mastered the statement he wants to make.”
