Amiri’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection explores the dynamic between reality and imagination

The brand's tropical new offering was unveiled in a short film directed by Cara Striker and set at the Wynn Las Vegas

Framed in an escapist world and focused on texture, Mike Amiri’s collection explores the dynamic between reality and the imaginary in a cinematic film.

Amiri, who began his career by shooting holes into cashmere sweaters with a shotgun, showed us his romantic side through his SS22 collection in which he envisions fashion through a different lens.

Set in Wynn Las Vegas, the film—directed by Cara Striker—conveys the energy of a summer romance with beats of Wish You Were Here (by Black Coffee) in the background. We depart on a vacation so longed for amidst the global pandemic to the rural part of Vegas, far away from glitter and glamour.

AMIRI’s SS22 collection features a myriad of textures, fabrics, and silhouettes—from silk Cabana lounge sets and sorbet bouclés to fringe details and embroidery. Driven by sandy tones, deep browns, and forest greens, Amiri’s collection merges perfectly with the tropical flora and idyllic waterfall and nature landscapes in which the show took place. Models in casual knits, made from shredded and braided bandanas (a process that takes four days) also wore jeans created through ice-dye techniques (a three-day process). Patterns in the form of rum bottles, sunsets, and hibiscus plants had us dreaming of a spa trip in the outdoors. AMIRI’s show was an idealistic combination of comfortable clothes and refinement.
