Watch Pieroni transform a vintage wig stand in the first installment of Document's Beauty in Isolation series

Without photoshoots and fashion weeks to determine her work’s tempo, the renowned makeup artist and Document beauty director Lucia Pieroni has found herself with an uncomfortable amount of time on her hands. In an effort to stay creative and engage her community, she decided to challenge hairstylists and makeup artists to submit a video of a look using our current limitations as an invitation for innovation.

Here, Pieroni kicks off the series with her own creation: “a glamorous Nefertiti in homemade PPE who came about from feelings about all those NHS nurses—and care workers around the world—who are placing themselves in harm’s way to protect us from this pandemic.”

Without her main makeup kit or a model, Pieroni used a vintage wig stand stolen from her sister.

“The mood is deliberately quiet, calm, slow, and meditative. This is a time in history when we’re all pressing ‘pause’ on our headlong run through life and taking time to appreciate the small things.”
