Sufjan Stevens kicks off Pride celebrations early with a surprise EP drop

Love Yourself / With My Whole Heart' is the singer-songwriter's first musical release since 'Call Me By Your Name.

As an early celebration of Pride Month, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens released a surprise EP today, May 29. The album, titled Love Yourself / With My Whole Heart, begins with the song “Love Yourself,” which is based on a sketch Stevens wrote 20 years ago, that is also included on the EP along with a short instrumental reprise. An accompanying song, “With My Whole Heart,” was written as a challenge to “write an upbeat and sincere love song without conflict, anxiety, or self-deprecation.”

The album is now available on all digital platforms, and will soon be available on vinyl in one of the eight colors of the Gay Pride flag (the color of each record will be a surprise). In continuation with the spirit of Pride Month, a portion of the proceeds will go to two organizations in New York which offer help to LGBTQ+ children who are currently homeless. This is Sufjan’s first musical release since his Grammy-nominated work for Call Me By Your Name.
