The designer shows off his expert craftsmanship in a somber yet captivating show

For Fall 2019, Marc Jacobs beckoned us into an intimate show of volume and glint, permeated by nature motifs that showed up through feather plumes and tasteful floral prints. The atmosphere was dark and hazy, but there was an airiness about the collection which pierced the room at Park Avenue Armory. This luminance was emphasized by large, exquisite ruffles, remarkable capes and coats, and striking hues of lavender, magenta, and gold. Supermodel Christy Turlington made a stunning appearance to the runway in her first show in over 20 years, wearing a dark, off-shoulder dress crafted entirely of feathers. She and the rest of the cast sauntered through the gothic dusk at the Armory, closing Jacob’s haunting yet sparkling show.
