For her Men's Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Silvia Venturini Fendi blends traditional Roman craftsmanship with crypto flair

Silvia Venturini Fendi has entered the metaverse. The creative director of menswear and accessories at her family’s luxury Roman fashion house is known for bringing old-world sophistication in tune with cutting-edge modernity, and FENDI’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection is exemplary of her truly multidimensional vision. FENDI collaborated with crypto asset company Ledger for a debut collection of tech accessories for the revolution—the Web 3.0 revolution, that is—introducing two polished aluminum digital wallets that incorporate the iconic design elements of FENDI’s Baguette bag and O’Lock chain, respectively. Both are built to house the Ledger Nano X, which is about the size of a regular old vintage USB stick, for reference.

“FENDI is a synonym for innovation and craftsmanship, and we love to trick the eye,” said Venturini Fendi, who herself designed the Baguette bag in 1997, in a press release. “For us, creation is just as much about the invisible as the visible—which is why it’s so important for us to embrace the near future and become a bridge for physical and virtual luxury.”

The Fall/Winter 2022 Men’s collection itself straddles bygone and virtual realities with impressive synchronicity. Softer, exaggerated tailoring—leather trousers with a wider leg, cape-like outerwear with a leisurely dropped shoulder, and button-ups that extend into supple knit sweaters—offsets digital-era adornments that Venturini Fendi describes as “future heirlooms.” 3D prints, pearl chokers, crystal pendants, and an oversized floral brooch add a touch of time-traveling flair, along with a plexiglass rendition of FENDI’s rigid trunk bag. The collection also introduces the brand’s latest FF logo sneakers, which appear among an otherwise traditional footwear offering, including Mary Jane brogues with wristwatch straps and O’Lock loafers with a scalloped trim.
