In the moody visual for "Wasting Time (New York)," B.Miles reminisces on the fear and loneliness of first moving to NYC

Memory, innocence, and experience deliberately collide in Brooklyn-based recording artist B.Miles’ upcoming debut album, In Order of Appearance. In keeping with the title, the release is a chronological exploration of youth, listlessness, excitement, and love.

“We’ve been working on this album for about three years now, and it’s so interesting to revisit the lyrics I wrote at the beginning of the process, when I had freshly moved to New York and just graduated college,” B.Miles tells Document. “Having this document of the fears and insecurities that, in many cases, I’ve been able to outgrow is really special for me. In that respect, releasing it into the world feels like the end of a chapter and the beginning of another.”

The video for B.Miles’ latest single, “Wasting Time (New York),” was directed by Alexander Cody Nguyen, drawing inspiration from Spike Jonze and alternative film-making methods. “Throughout the video I wanted to look at the intimate and isolated quarters of the bedroom as a symbol for the ebb and flow of dealing with how small, hard, and lonely it can feel living in NYC,” he says.

In Order of Appearance will be released on Oct 16 by Mooncrawl Records/AWAL.
