British photographer Jamie Hawkesworth often shoots in spaces as industrial and rugged as Red Hook, Brooklyn, the venue of his first upcoming solo show, A Short, Pleasurable Journey: 51 Photographs by Jamie Hawkesworth. Opening April 15th, the show contains 51 images of Jamie’s personal and editorial work where he had complete creative freedom. A staple in Hawkesworth’s photography, many of the people in the photos are not models, but people he’s encountered in his travels—most recently documenting a trip to Scotland’s Shetland Islands. He has also made a series of short videos that will be presented for the first time. Centered around a documentary style, Jaime works both inside and out of the parameters of fashion forcing it outside of its narrow genre. A welcolmed presence in the fashion world, Jamie has worked with Calvin Klein, J.W.Anderson, Vogue, and was included in the last issue of Document Journal.

The opening reception for A Short, Pleasurable Journey: 51 Photographs by Jamie Hawkesworth is April 15th, 2016 from 6-9 PM at Red Hook Labs, 133-135 Imlay Street, Brooklyn, New York 11231. The show will be on view until April 24th, 2016.
